The Billy Corgan Fender Stratocaster
Fender has recently released a new line of Strats that carry the name of the alt-rock star Billy Corgan. Being from Chicago too, we are happy to see that he has teamed up with such a legendary brand like Fender. The Smashing Pumpkins were a very influential group in the 90's and it is exciting to see what they are up to today.
Fender news conducted a wonderful interview with Billy, that you can find here.
But here is a snippit of it:

FN: What attracts you to the Stratocaster?Read more on Fender's website.
BC: Hmm, where can I start? Well, my first real guitar was a Fender Mustang®. It was more of an economic thing—I couldn’t really afford any other guitar, and I think I got it for a couple hundred bucks. And I always loved that it had this sort of Indian thing—you know, there wasn’t a lot of sustain on the guitar, and I think in my early playing I was sort of attracted to that kind of Cure style of playing, even though I didn’t know the Cure existed—but that sort of open-string-y type thing. So in the early days of the band, that’s what I played, but I could never get the gain that I wanted. And then Jimmy (Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin) actually sold me my first Stratocaster, which was a 1973-ish-era Strat®. And playing the Stratocaster through a high-gain amp—it suddenly was like it evoked all the things that I liked that I’d been hearing on recordings, whether it was Hendrix or Blackmore. And I’d never put it together—it was never a choice of, like, “Yeah, I want to play a Stratocaster.” I just got one, and when I played it, it suddenly brought alive what I was looking for in music.

Beginner Guitar Lesson: Beginning Scales
This is a beginners video on playing the guitar. It is extremely basic, but for those just starting (like we are with this blog), it can be an invaluable learning tool. The goal is to get accustomed to strumming the instrument and fingering the scales... Take a peep:
RECENT BREAK-IN AT ORANGE HQ. £3000 REWARD
One of the world's most famous British amplifier brands, Orange Amps, has just announced a major theft of a container load of amplifiers from its Borehamwood premises. Used by some of the biggest stars such as Madonna, Led Zeppelin Prince and Kaiser Chiefs, the robbers targeted this prestigious brand to carry out a daring raid on Saturday 16th August.
The one hundred forty one Orange Tiny Terror Combo guitar amps, which have a combined value of over 60,000, were part of the first shipment of the much anticipated amps into the UK. The product was launched at the Frankfurt music exhibition earlier this year, on the back of the award winning acclaimed Tiny Terror amp which has sold over 30,000 units and proven to be one of the most in-demand amps in the world.
The combination amp and speaker has a value of 439 each and was stolen from a temperature controlled, sealed forty foot container. The robbers couldn't break the locks so they attempted to use an acetylene welder and then angle grinders to cut through the quarter inch locking steel plates.
As this was part of the first delivery into the UK, only 121 units had been shipped into music shops, so this is still a highly sought after amp with very limited availability. Orange recently won the Queens Award for Enterprise - International Trade.
The Police have launched a major investigation and informed all relevant port and home authorities. Orange Amplifiers are putting up a reward of 5000 for information that will lead to a successful conviction and recovery of these amplifiers. If you have any information please contact the local Police force on 0845-3300222, quoting Crime Number J1/08/3588. The company has the serial numbers of all the products stolen which is available on it's website.
